FAQ: How Much Exercise Does My Cockapoo need?

Published on 20 August 2026 at 22:02

Cockapoos are active, intelligent dogs that generally need 60–90 minutes of exercise per day, although this varies depending on their age, size and energy levels.

  • Puppies need shorter, more frequent walks and plenty of rest. As a general guide, many owners follow the "5 minutes of exercise per month of age" rule for structured walks, once a day or split between multiple walks, while also allowing time for play.
  • Adult Cockapoos usually enjoy a combination of walks, off-lead play (in safe and secure areas) and training sessions to keep their body and mind active.
  • Senior Cockapoos may need gentler, shorter walks, but regular exercise remains important to help maintain their mobility and overall health.

Remember that exercise isn't just about walking. Cockapoos thrive on mental stimulation too. Puzzle toys, basic training and interactive games can be just as tiring as a long walk.

Every dog is different. Some Cockapoos inherit the higher energy levels of the Cocker Spaniel, while others are more laid-back like the Poodle. The best guide is your own dog—if they're relaxed and settled at home after exercise, you're probably meeting their needs.
